Sangmin Park Korea • United States

In May 1987, Sangmin Park was selected as a member of the Philadelphia Orchestra’s cello section at the age of eighteen and was one of the youngest ever to be chosen. His extraordinary talent compelled his family to immigrate to America in 1979 where he continued his further musical training at the Juilliard School of music. He has won numerous competitions including New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Audition and performed as soloist with the Orchestra in 1982 and received the New Jersey Governor’s Award. He was also selected as the Presidential Scholar in music through competitive audition and awarded with the Presidential award at the White House in 1985. 

He has performed with numerous Orchestras such as New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Huntsville Orchestra, KBS Symphony, Seoul Philharmonic, etc. He also was invited to give recitals at the Lincoln Center and Kennedy Center. He is an active chamber musician and has performed with such an artist as Sarah Chang, Gary Hoffman, Charles Niedich and Jian Wang. 

He is currently a Professor at the Korea National University of Arts and the leader of the Seoul String Quartet and Cellista Cello Ensemble.
