Daejin Kim, Chairperson of the Jury Korea

Daejin Kim is one of the most leading pianists and pedagogues in Korea. In 1985, he won the first prize at the 6th Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition (now the Cleveland Competition) and made his New York debut the following year, receiving acclaim from The New York Times. He has performed worldwide and recorded notable works. Beyond his successful concert career, Kim is a renowned teacher, conducting masterclasses worldwide. He has received accolades such as the 'Professor of the Year' award from the Music Association of Korea and 'Artist of the Year' recognition from the Korean Ministry of Culture. He has also served on the jury for prestigious competitions like the Busoni, Clara Haskil, Leeds, Queen Elizabeth, and Rubinstein International Competitions. Notably, his students, including Sunwook Kim and Chloe Jiyeong Mun, have achieved remarkable success in major international competitions. He has conducted and performed extensively with orchestras, including the Suwon and Changwon Philharmonic, where he held the position of Music Director. Kim holds degrees from the Juilliard School and currently serves as the President of the Korean National University of Arts since 2021.
